A top-of-the-line, lightweight winter camping tent developed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of winter camping. Russ field-tested this tent in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and gives it his highest rating.
The modified wedge design allows more headroom than a pyramid-style tent, and the four-pole frame means that campers can avoid the inconvenience of having to work around a pole in the center of the tent. The Base Camp will accommodate 3 people on cots comfortably or 5 people on ground pads. Accommodates a wood stove. A 5" stove jack with a weather flap is included. Two 4" vent tunnels provide ventilation for stove use and to vent any excess water vapor. The oval tepee-style door opening is heavily reinforced, and the tent flap has generous overlap and beefy #9 YKK zippers to seal out the cold. All Snowtrekker™ tents have a built-in all-season nylon sod cloth/snow flap. When camping in snow, use snow on top of the snow flap to hold tent down (stakes are not included; they may be purchased separately. We recommend the the Duralumin tent pegs, which are strong and lightweight. There is no floor to the tents. The Snowtrekker™ tent sheds strong winds well and is up to the task in the most severe conditions. This tent design has been tested and proven on arctic expeditions of 60 days in length.

The tent is constructed from 6.3 oz. cotton duck treated with Sunforger™ Marine water repellent finish and durable flame retardency to CPAI - 84 standards. The fabric is specially woven for this tent, and has a very high thread count and an extremely tight weave. Snowtrekker™ tents are very quick and easy to set up thanks in part to their internal frame system. Basically it is a saw horse configuration with 2 welded aluminum joints that connect the ridge pole and the 4 legs. The legs and the ridge pole are ¾" Easton aluminum tent poles, which are hard-anodized aircraft-grade tempered aluminum. The pole sections are bungee corded together with Shokcord - the same cord specified by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps in all of their personal shelters, rated for arctic temperatures.
