Three exact measurements from your wall tent are required to complete your wall tent frame.
If you have a new canvas wall tent that has not been wet and dried several times, you will need to reduce your tent measurements by 2%. Allowing this reduction will prevent putting too much pressure on the seams and zippers, which will in turn require you to cut down your rafter and tent leg lengths later.
Determine the cut requirements of the legs and tent lengths of your wall tent conduits prior to cutting – you may be able to save conduit that could later be used elsewhere. An excellent example would be using a conduit for a leg and tent length. Also, remember "measure twice, cut once"!
MATERIALS NEEDED :
You will need one-inch ID EMT thin wall conduit. This material sleeves inside of the 1-3/8"OD tube for a perfect fit.
FRAME COMPLETION :
You will need the following exact measurements from your wall tent:
- A- Wall height
- B - Rafter (top of sidewall up to ridge)
- D - Length of tent
LEGS: Deduct 1" from the A (wall height) dimension.
- For Single Upright Kits, Cut 6
- For Dual Upright Kits, Cut 8
- For Triple Upright Kits, Cut 10
- For Quad Upright Kits, Cut 12
RAFTERS: Deduct 2 " from the B (rafter) dimension.
- For Single Upright Kits, Cut 6
- For Dual Upright Kits, Cut 8
- For Triple Upright Kits, Cut 10
- For Quad Upright Kits, Cut 12
- For two piece rafters, you will need to divide the above dimension by two and purchase optional sleeves.
TENT LENGTH : No deduction needed - use exact length of D (wall tent length)
- For Single Upright Kits, Divide by 2 and cut 6
- For Dual Upright Kits, Divide by 3 and cut 9
- For Triple Upright Kits, Divide by 4 and cut 12
- For Quad Upright Kits, Divide by 5 and cut 15
To break
tent length pieces down:
- For Single Upright Kits, Divide by 4 and cut 12 (6 sleeves needed)
- For Dual Upright Kits, Divide by 6 and cut 18 (9 sleeves needed)
- For Triple Upright Kits, Divide by 8 and cut 24 (12 sleeves needed)
- For Quad Upright Kits, Divide by 10 and cut 30 (15 sleeves needed
To make assembly easier, mark all leg, rafter, and tent length sections - color coded spray paint works well.
ASSEMBLY:
- Arrange angle joints on the ground, making sure all angles marked with an "R" are in the center. Some kits have matching ridge and eave angles; these will not have "R's".
- Arange rafter and tent length pieces on the ground
- Start at one end of the tent and begin sliding pieces together. When complete, it will look like rafters in a house.
- Drape wall tent over rafter sections.
- Insert legs, one at a time.
- Finished!
Should your tent fit tight over your Kwik Kamp frame:
- Be sure not to force the tent over the tent frame.
- Your tent lengths and/or rafters are too long.
- To avoid damaging the zipper and weakening the seams of your wall tent, reduce the tent and rafter lengths accordingly, as necessary.
- Your tent may have shrunk 1%-2% from being wet.
