For years, I have had customers asking me for a highline kit with a swivel. Horses tend to walk in circles when they are on a highline. This is great for keeping their minds occupied and preventing them from pawing. It’s not so great on the lead  rope. Everyone (myself included!) was tired of lead ropes unraveling or getting twisted up so tight that the horse had to be cut loose from the highline.
While trail riders who used lead ropes with swivel snaps had fewer problems with their lead ropes on highlines, these snaps have their problems including extra weight (especially bull snaps), noise and failures such as breaking, jamming, rusting and mysterious, unexplained releasing (usually while you weren’t in camp!). For these reasons and others, rope halters with matching leads that are knotted on have increased in popularity with trail riders. Rope halters are lightweight, necessary with some horses and do not have any hardware that can fail if the animal pulls back.
 But unfortunately, a lead rope without some kind of swivel will generally end up twisted or unraveled on a highline. So here is the solution … The TrailMax™ In-Line Swivel ensures that a lead rope will not become twisted or unraveled while tied. And it is so easy to use. I designed the In-Line Swivel so that you can loop it onto your highline rope without tying a knot. When your highline rope is loose, slide the In-Line Swivel to your desired location. Once you tighten the rope, the In-Line Swivel will not move, thus keeping your stock from becoming entangled with one another while on the highline. The In-Line Swivel is made from Stainless Steel to provide you with years of use.
I had always used a lead rope with a swiveling bull snap when I was out in the backcountry. It wasn’t until I began to use rope halters and a lead rope with no hardware that I finally understood why so many of our customers were looking for a highline swivel. Necessity is the mother of invention, I guess. Well, I am sorry it took us so long, but we finally did it. The TrailMax™ In-Line Swivel is simply a better solution for keeping horses on a highline.
