Like its name suggests, the endurance saddle is designed for distance riding. There are many styles on the market to fit the endurance rider’s specific needs, but the amenities between styles are similar: lightweight, no horn to obstruct a more forward riding position, attachment points for breastcollars, horn bags and horse saddle bags and, most importantly, designed for horse and rider comfort over long distances. Tucker Saddle designs their endurance saddle for the trail rider with many choices to customize it for your own needs and tastes. There are three distinct endurance saddle models from Tucker Saddle: the Endurance Saddle, the Equitation Endurance Saddle and the River Plantation. All of the saddles have several options that can be customized to suit your individual needs and tastes. Please see the chart below for more detailed saddle specifications. The Tucker Endurance Saddle and the Tucker Gen II Endurance Saddle (shown at right) traditionally have a round skirt, although it can be ordered with a square western skirt as well. The difference in weight would be about 1.5-3 pounds depending upon seat size. These endurance saddle models offer the rider a 3” cantle for more room and freedom of movement. All other choices and customizations are available for both styles. This saddle is now available in an extra wide tree to fit draft breeds and larger draft crosses.
The Tucker River Plantation Trail Saddle was redesigned in 2005 with more refined flap and fenders to more closely resemble the original plantation saddle used in the 19th century from which it gets its name. The Gen II Bayou Plantation (shown at right) was added to the Tucker lineup in 2008. Because the Plantation saddles have a narrow twist, a high 5" cantle and a deeper seat than the other endurance saddles, it is popular with dressage riders and those riding in steeper terrain. The Plantation saddles are also available with unique border tooling.
