Packing Made Simple & Easy with our Knot-Free Pack System

Whether you are a beginning packer or simply intimidated by knots, you will be happy to know that we offer a wide selection of packing gear that is designed to work together with no manties, no ropes, and no fancy knots. Select one product from each of the following categories, and you will have everything you need to load up your pack horse (or pack mule) and hit the trail knot-free:

1. Pack Saddle: Choose a Decker, Sawbuck or Adjustable Pack Saddle (we include the cinch and latigos). If you need help deciding which type of pack saddle will best suit your needs, please visit our pack saddle department page for more information. 

2. Pack Panniers: Each set of pack panniers we offer easily hangs on a sawbuck or Decker pack saddle and buckles securely to the pack cinch for added stability. We recommend adding a set of Polypac pannier inserts, should you choose soft-sided panniers. These inserts give your soft panniers shape for ease of packing & loading and provide added protection for the gear you are packing.

3. Top Pack: Choose an H style Top Pack if you are using a Sawbuck or Adjustable Pack Saddle or Rectangular Top Pack if you are using a Decker Pack Saddle. The top pack conveniently attaches to the panniers using sewn-on straps. Once secured, the top pack functions like a diamond hitch, securing your load.

4. Pack Pad: A pack saddle pad is larger and thicker than a standard riding saddle pad and provides necessary protection from panniers rubbing or banging on the pack animal’s sides. Choose from our selection of TrailMax, Toklat, Diamond Wool, and 5 Star Equine pack saddle pads.

If you purchase a traditional Decker pack saddle, we also recommend adding a set of 4 Solid Brass Decker Hooks. Attach Decker hooks to your pannier straps to make it easy to load the panniers on to hoops of your pack saddle.
